Hello Sarasota County -
Thank you for visiting my site. I am running for the Sarasota County Commission – District 3. As a Native Floridian, I am passionate about maintaining and protecting our natural resources. If elected, the following points will be my guiding principles during my term:
- I do NOT support eliminating the restriction known as concurrency. A development must not be approved unless the roads and other facilities needed to serve the development are in place concurrent (at the same time), as the impacts of that development.
- If a road serving a development does not have adequate capacity to handle its traffic, I will NOT vote for this type of development.
- I do NOT support loosening controls on development in our rural lands; this will only create more urban sprawl.
- I do NOT support County ordinances that allow unlimited building heights.
- I understand that an over-supply of residential and commercial development will add to the glut and makes the current problems worse. We cannot make it more difficult for people to sell or rent their properties.
- My opponent, influenced by Big Developers; has accepted generous contributions from them all, for her campaign. I will NOT accept campaign funding from these developers. I refuse to betray the public trust!
- Upon election to the Sarasota Board of County Commissioners, District 3 position, I will take action to recommend the full investigation of the County staff that was involved in the county’s procurement problems and all will be held accountable for their actions. I would also recommend and agree with the decisions made by the National Institute for Government Procurement (NIGP) to immediately implement and put procedures in place to stop the intimidation of County employees who come forward to express their dissatisfaction and opinions of how to correct the problems.
